Bio

Nicholas is a game designer and storyteller pursuing his M.S. in Games and Playable Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received his B.S. in Liberal Arts and Engineering from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo, in 2022. At Cal Poly, he studied game design and learned how to tell narratives through interactive media. Nicholas is primarily interested in studying and working in virtual reality (VR). His interests include exploring the relationship between users in and with VR, game design, and narrative storytelling through VR. His prior research consists of an ethnographic study of the relationship between users and virtual mirrors in the VR social application VRChat. Nicholas enjoys playing various games, both in VR and traditional, engaging with people from across the globe in social VR experiences, making multiplayer VR experiences, and taking his dog Lilly for walks at the beach.
